A classic arcade-style Defender experience rebuilt for the ZX Spectrum Next in NTC BASIC.
Fly across a scrolling alien landscape, destroy the invading forces, rescue humans from the landers and survive wave after wave of increasingly dangerous attacks.
This edition keeps the original game's world, enemies, humans, scanner and controls, while adding enhanced graphics, sound and gameplay.
THE DEFENDER
You're flying low over a vast alien landscape.
Above you, the scanner tracks the action. Below, hills and mountains stretch across the planet as enemies sweep in from every direction.
You'll face:
- Landers
- Mutants
- Baiters
- Enemy fire
- And the ever-present danger of losing the humans you're trying to protect
Shoot the landers before they carry humans away. Catch falling humans and return them safely to the ground for bonus points.
Let them fall from too high, though, and they're gone.

The ZX Spectrum Next version expands the original presentation with:
