HELHEIM – a saga of the north (SNESdev Game Jam 2026 edition)

 by asbiz

HELHEIM – a saga of the north (SNESdev Game Jam 2026 edition)

The gods are gone. Now there is only you.

Helheim is a Norse action-RPG for the Super Nintendo, in the spirit of the dark isometric dungeon crawlers of the late 90s. The sea gave you back – half-drowned on the beach below Ulfsvik, with no memory of the night the raiders broke the peace of the gods on Lysøy. Lay Bersi's drowned oarsmen to rest, wake Karr the Haugbui in his barrow, swear the oath ring's trial in Nastrond – and carry the ring through the Iron Wood and up into the Trollfell, where Hrung the Bergbui has sat on Tyr's stone for a hundred winters.

  • A whole journey: the village of Ulfsvik, the Haugfield, the Barrow of Karr, the Frozen Halls, the Sunken Halls, Karr's chamber, Nastrond, the Iron Wood, three levels of the Trollfell and the Troll's Hall – plus the Hollow Mound and a Deeper Barrow to go back down into.
  • About 30 minutes for the story alone, 40–60 minutes with everything.
  • Bosses: Karr the Haugbui, Asgaut the Oathsworn, Hrafnhild the grave-witch, Atli the Oath-Breaker – and Hrung the Bergbui, a troll twice your size who slams the ground, throws rocks and calls his taken.
  • Two heroes: the Berserker (Bear Strike, Wolf Leap, Battle Roar) and the Seidkona (Ember, Rime Ring, Seidr Step).
  • Side quests: the Smith's Boy, Ketil's Amber, the Myling, Porridge for the Gardvord, Bersi's boatswain, Tufte's grave horn and the Hollow Mound. A gold ! shows who has something new to say.
  • Levels with stat and skill points, a belt of mead, an inventory, magic, rare and unique items, a healer, a smith and a gambler, and rune stones that carry you.
  • Story cards with pixel pictures, HDMA skies, drifting moons, flickering fire and falling snow; mosaic, ripple and iris transitions.
  • 512 KB LoROM, no special chips, no SRAM – it runs on a real SNES (NTSC and PAL).

Cauldron - Scare Attack -PC-

A horizontal score attack shoot 'em up based on the 8-bit classic by sunteam

As Halloween approaches, King Punglekin has decided to take control and has rallied the denizens of the night to his cause. Only The Hag can stop him by scaring them all into submission with her witch's magic and defeating Punglekin.

Based on Palace Software's classic 8-bit game Cauldron, "Cauldron - Scare Attack" is a single level score attack for Windows.

Try to beat your highest score! You can take unlimited hits, but each time you do, your score will decrease, so be careful.

Along the way you can collect crystal balls to power up your magic, and bonus items to push your scare score to the limit!

The game is based on Cauldron by Steve Brown, Tony Barber and Simon Dunstan, and Cauldron II by Steve Brown, Richard Leinfellner and Richard Joseph, both released by Palace Software.

Human made. Not AI.

ZxNextMaker

Make ZX Spectrum and ZX Spectrum Next games without writing code.by Foko Games

Make ZX Spectrum and ZX Spectrum Next games without writing code.

ZxNextMaker is a game maker for the ZX Spectrum. You draw the graphics, build the rooms, put the characters and objects in place, and give them behaviours with blocks. The app writes the machine code. You get a real game: a .tap for the Spectrum 48K/128K and a .nex for the ZX Spectrum Next.

Four kinds of game

- Platformer: flip-screen rooms, variable jump, double jump, dash, melee or ranged attacks, ladders, moving platforms, conveyors, crumbling floors and a two-character mode.

- Top-down / RPG: rooms, doors, keys, NPCs, talking signs, a sword and animated tiles.

- Isometric (FOKOMATION): Knight Lore-style 3D rooms, jumping and climbing, pushable crates, Sokoban puzzles, guardians and a custom HUD.

- Text adventure: a PAW-style parser, locations, objects, illustrated rooms and a game in English or Spanish.

On the ZX Spectrum Next

Every game also exports as a .nex, and the Next version can go much further:

- 256-colour graphics (Layer 2), colour hardware sprites and the game's own palette.

- Smooth hardware scrolling, sideways and in vertical towers, with a parallax background behind it.

- Title and game-over pictures in 256 colours.

- PT3 music: load .pt3 files from Vortex Tracker II or Pro Tracker 3 for the title, the game and the game-over screen. They play on the Next's second AY chip without slowing the game.

- Nine-voice music across the Next's three AY chips.

- 28 MHz room drawing, and much more memory (up to 128 isometric rooms).

The .nex runs on its own: no ROM inside and none needed.

Everything in one app

- Pixel editors for tiles, sprites and isometric blocks, with PNG import.

- A beeper sound-effect editor, a beeper melody editor and an AY music tracker (128K).

- Title screens, loading screens, custom fonts with accents, and HUDs.

- Play your game inside the app: a built-in ZX Spectrum emulator and a full ZX Spectrum Next emulator.

- Undo/redo, a project library, and an interface in English and Spanish.

- Sample games to open, play and study, including *El Faro de Sant Bru* (in three versions: top-down, isometric and text adventure), *La Tumba*, *SokoSoko* and *Microban*.

Easy CPC for Windows

Amstrad CPC emulator for Windows: 464, 6128, GX4000 and CPC Plus, turbo loading, tape manager, Z80 debugger by noentiendo

Easy CPC for Windows

Easy CPC is an Amstrad CPC emulator for Windows, built for people who simply want to load a disk or a tape and play, and who also like to peek under the hood. It emulates the Z80 CPC family, loads your files automatically and keeps a full debugger inside the window.

New: Amstrad GX4000 and CPC Plus. Easy CPC plays GX4000 cartridges (.cpr) with the Plus ASIC emulated: 4096 colours, hardware sprites, raster interrupts, split screen, smooth scrolling and DMA sound.

Why "Easy"? Open a .dsk, a .cdt, a snapshot or a cartridge (or a .zip / .rar with any of them) and it just starts. The right machine is picked for you, and the RUN" or |CPM command is typed for you.

Machines

  • Amstrad CPC 464, CPC 664 and CPC 6128
  • Amstrad GX4000: plays .cpr cartridges, with 4096 colours, hardware sprites, raster interrupts, split screen, hardware scrolling and DMA sound
  • CPC 464+ and 6128+: they start from the system cartridge you provide yourself (Settings > Machine)
  • Automatic model: disks start on a 6128, tapes on a 464, snapshots on the machine they were saved from

File formats

  • Disks: .dsk (standard and extended, double-sided)
  • Tapes: .cdt, .tzx, .csw
  • Snapshots: .sna (versions 1, 2 and 3; 64 KB and 128 KB)
  • Cartridges: .cpr (GX4000 / CPC Plus)
  • Any of the above inside a .zip or .rar

Pool of Radiance for the Atari ST

 by cb-fgc

Here it is at last, the legendary RPG game that SSI announced was coming to the ST back in the days, then vanished... Since its followup Curse of the Azure Bonds was released on the ST, and all those Goldbox games are modular and use the same engine with a few variations, it was quite logical to modify it in order to be able to play other Goldbox games...

Retro Gaming Library -PC, MAC & Linux-

A visual catalogue for the games you own: boxed, loose or digital by virtualjames

A visual catalogue for the games you own: boxed, loose or digital

I’ve been keeping track of my retro collection in a spreadsheet for years. It worked, but it was just rows of text. I wanted something more visual, with box art and descriptions, that also backed itself up to the cloud. So I made Retro Game Library.

Add a game, pick the system, and the box art, description, year and publisher fill themselves in. Your shelf ends up looking like a proper library instead of a spreadsheet.

What it does

  • Box art and descriptions are filled in automatically from the free LaunchBox Games Database. You don’t need LaunchBox installed.
  • It covers everything from the Atari 2600 and ZX Spectrum up to PS5 and Switch 2.  Everything will become retro at some point so I've included everything I could think of.
  • Physical and digital: record carts, tapes and discs as loose, boxed, complete in box or sealed. Record digital copies with the store you bought them from: GOG, Steam, Epic, PlayStation Store, eShop, Xbox, itch.io and more. You can filter to physical or digital only.
  • If you own a game on several machines, you add it once, tick the extra systems, and each one gets the right box art.
  • You can record multiple copies, and a filter shows duplicates, games on several systems, or games missing box art.
  • You can record condition, date acquired and your own notes.
  • Covers are saved to your computer as small pictures, so the app works offline.
  • Cloud backup: keep your library folder in Google Drive, OneDrive, iCloud or Dropbox and every change is backed up automatically. It also keeps a dated backup copy for each day you make changes.
  • Export: a PDF catalogue with box art (handy on your phone when you’re out hunting at car boot sales), an Excel workbook, or a CSV.
  • It’s tiny (about 1–2 MB) and portable, with nothing to install. It runs from a USB stick.
  • There are no accounts, no tracking and no ads.

Important: Retro Game Library is only for cataloguing your collection. It isn’t a game launcher and is in no way a replacement for the brilliant LaunchBox. If you play games on PC, go and check it out at launchbox-app.com. Game information and box art come from the LaunchBox Games Database, built by the LaunchBox community. This app isn’t made by, or affiliated with, LaunchBox.

Bruce Lee AGA for Amiga 1200/4000

 by TjLazer

BRUCE LEE AGA - Amiga AGA remaster of Kagesan's Sega Master System version (v1.00, 2015)
Amiga AGA remaster by TjLaZer 2026.

 WHAT THE REMASTER CHANGES

* 256 colors on screen from the full 24-bit AGA palette (8 bitplanes).
* Every room repainted: smooth 24-bit skies with clouds, painted and lit mountains with mist, soft vertical light on the backgrounds, soft drop shadows, glowing lamps, and the dithered/banded tiles (beams, stairs, roofs, bricks, pillars, speckled stone) re-shaded smoothly. The key/meander borders stay crisp.
* Bruce Lee has natural skin tones and golden trousers.
* Fades between rooms still work: the painted colors fade with the game's palette.
* Anything the game changes in a room (lanterns taken, doors opened) is drawn in the original colors on top of the painting.

Tutankham (Amiga)

 by LC-Games

Technical Specifications

  • Compatibility: 100% compatible with all PAL OCS, ECS, and AGA Amiga systems, as well as NTSC ECS and AGA systems.
  • RAM: Requires only 512 KB Chip RAM.
  • OS: Fully "Workbench-friendly".
  • Format: Digital download (.ADF and executable file included).

Overview

In this game, the player controls an explorer who is robbing Tutankhamun's tomb. The player will search for precious treasures (maps, lamps, chests of gold & jewels, and, above all, the golden mask of King Tut) and fight off the various creatures that guard the tomb to ultimately find the way through the catacombs.

Gameplay

The player must guide the explorer through a series of progressively more difficult mazes across different stages. The explorer may move in four directions, but can only fire in two directions, left and right, making the player helpless in vertical shafts. There are also "warp zones" located in random parts of each maze that allow the explorer to be teleported from one area of the catacomb to another.

There are several different creatures that constantly materialize from "spawning zones" within the maze and attack, including crows, snakes, bats, dragons, and other magical beings. Those creatures can be destroyed to score between 20 and 60 points with either bullets or a "flash bomb". The explorer has a single "flash bomb" per life that destroys all the enemies on the screen.

On each stage, the explorer must pick up keys in order to unlock the door to the room where each of the treasures are kept, allowing the passage to the next stage. Along the way, the explorer may grab optional treasures (rings and coffers) for bonus points.

If the timer reaches zero, the player's ability to fire is removed.

Bonus points are awarded based on the amount of extra time left over when a stage is completed.

After the player has recovered the King Tut's treasures in all the stages, the game starts over again with increased difficulty and more keys to pick up.

At 30000 points, the player earns an extra life.

Street Fighter II Champion Edition for Neo Geo CD

 by Teo Tormo

Street Fighter II Champion Edition for Neo Geo CD

The author: ""Here is my first version of Street Fighter II Champion Edition for the Neo Geo CD. It's a beta and it has some graphical glitches and small bugs, but it's playable and enjoyable from start to finish. The game runs from a Neo Geo CD SD Loader, where it works really well, and you can also burn it to a CD-R. I should warn you, though, that I've tested it very little on CD-R; most of the testing was done with the SD Loader. Even so, given the interest the port has generated, I've decided to release it now."

Vette! 2026 -PC & MAC-

A source port of the 1989 racing game Vette!  by PlasticCogLiquid

Vette! was an open world racing game that modeled a huge amount of San Francisco and it was pretty amazing to see at the time. You can drop all three versions Mac, PC-98 and DOS into the Game folder and it will let you use the features of each game, like the Mac's digitized sound fx. I've added new features like LAN or Online multiplayer, high resolution, new driving model(Still working on it) that allows jumping hills and lane centering, maxed draw distance that draws the whole map at once.....etc
