DEFENDER - AMSTRAD CPC EDITION

The classic DEFENDER on the Amstrad CPC!

Defender, on an Amstrad CPC. It’s the same game as the ZX Spectrum Next edition: its world, landers, mutants, humans, baiter, scanner, sounds and play, rebuilt to run on a CPC in mode 0.

It runs on any 64K Amstrad CPC.

THE SAME GAME

  • The landscape, the stars scrolling slower than the ground, and the scanner with its dots and view marks
  • Landers take the humans up. At the top, a human is lost and its lander turns mutant
  • Shoot a lander carrying a human and it falls. Catch it and set it down safely
  • Mutants, the baiter, smart bombs and hyperspace
  • An extra ship and smart bomb every 10,000 points
  • The planet comes back every fifth wave
  • The sounds, played on the CPC’s AY sound chip

BUILT FOR THE CPC

  • Mode 0 screen, 160 x 200 in 16 colours
  • The Next’s own sprite art, converted for mode 0 and compiled into fast Z80 drawing code
  • Enemies, humans, lasers, shots and explosions all run in Z80, so it keeps up with the action
  • It plays at the pace of the Next original, give or take
  • It takes over the machine completely, with no return to BASIC
