The Big Sleaze 2½ -ZX Spectrum-

An adventure text game by mjhardisty

WATCH OUT NEW YORK, SAM SPILLADE IS BACK!

After the triumphant return of the Maltese Bullfinch business was just swell for Spillade Investigations. So swell in fact that Velma hired another gumshoe to take the cases and keep her dumb boss off the streets.

But, when a set of hoodlums planned the lift a set of priceless jewels, the cops had no option but to turn to someone lower than the lowlife, someone who was already scraping the bottom of the barrel - Sam Spillade

THE GAME

The Big Sleaze 2.5 is an unofficial sequel to The Big Sleaze, developed by Fergus McNeill for Delta 4 Adventures and published by Piranha and Macmillan Software.

The original game was Fergus and Delta 4's finest hour. Brilliantly written, flawlessly programmed and a prose that contains a wonderful sense of humour. Utter genius.

BACKGROUND

At the start of 2018 the interest in retro text adventures was flourishing and I wrote blog post in January stating my new year intentions. One of those was to write a text adventure, by getting to grips with Gilsoft's The Quill or Professional Adventure Writer – something I failed to do when I was a teenager. I had a few ideas for themes, but really wanted to explore the world of Fergus’ Big Sleaze, one of my all time favourite games.

I set my sights on a sequel of sorts - more a homage and tribute to the original.

Over the course of the year, this game was the result of that development.
