Resident Evil 0 – N64 Demo Recreation

This is a Unity remake of the unreleased Nintendo 64 version of Resident Evil 0, based directly on the playable demo shown at E3 2000 and TGS Spring 2000.In this early build, take control of Rebecca Chambers as she investigates the Ecliptic Express. The train has already fallen into chaos. You'll encounter a dying member of S.T.A.R.S. Bravo Team and meet Billy Coen for the first time as the horror begins to unfold.

The project aims to recreate the atmosphere, layout, and key moments from that prototype as faithfully as possible. Expect classic fixed-camera angles, pre-rendered backgrounds, and the item-dropping system that was planned for the N64 version.

About the Recreation

Since no public ROM of the N64 prototype exists, every background, camera angle, enemy placement, and gameplay detail was carefully reconstructed through extensive research. I dug through old magazine previews, archived screenshots, video footage from the show floors, and preserved material from long-dead websites. The goal was always preservation first — to bring back this lost piece of Resident Evil history as accurately as possible for fans who never got to play it.It's a short experience, but one that captures a unique piece of the series' development — the game as it existed before the switch to GameCube. If you're a fan of the series or curious about what the N64 prototype was like, this is for you. Tank controls are included for authenticity, with optional modern adjustments available.Feedback is welcome. Hope you enjoy this look back at what could have been.

Further content is planned to cover other parts of the protype that for sure were developed beyond the show floor demo, such as character swapping, puzzles, and how I believe is the most likely way Capcom could have handled the moving train aspect. But for preservations sake this version strictly contains verifiable demo content.
